The Last Drink of the Night

Good days come to an end
Its time to let the reality in
Peace and joy take a detour
What lies ahead are sighs and chagrin.

How did the days pass us by?
When did sunshine bid goodbye?
Captured in frames of reminiscence
Feels like decades have gone by.

The heart will no more ring
With the merry laughter of fantasy
The warmth of the fireplace is not enough
Nor is the blissfulness of glee.

Petals of the rose are wilting away
Its scent causing the nostalgia to swell
The hourglass proves merciful though
Sparing a second for a lone farewell.

Baby, the night is ageing
But we are still ripe and young
The carriage of destiny awaits
Only to bring us back where we belong.

Our Little Story

Opening my eyes to this unknown world
The first thing I saw was you
Engulfing me in your nest of warmth
Away from afflictions, you guided me through.

Whenever the ambience felt morbid
You were there to hold me tight
Appeasing my anxious and jittery nerves
You spent your day and night.

Understood me like a friend, fought like a sibling
Played multiple roles everyday
Gave me your motherly rebukes
But loved me ever the same.

You were the only light of hope
In the never ending darkness of fear
Stood beside me when the world turned its back
Artistically concealing your every pain and tear.

Step by step we crossed the bridge of hurdles
And never for once did you complain
Witnessed me at my best, tolerated me at my worst
Stayed alongside through sorrow and disdain.

You say I’m the reason of your pride
I feel you’re the one who helps me succeed
My soul is nothing but your shadow
I’m incomplete without your care and lead.

Mere words cannot describe this unique bond
Our story still has a long way to go
May God forever keep the love binded
And bless me someday to be like you.

 I love you, Mom
A very Happy Mothers Day to you :')

A Bonfire of Memories

Waiting to reach my destination
Standing under the shade I see
On the other side of the road
A black hooded figure, studying me.

I feel a thread of connection
He seems to recognize me too
So familiar, yet so strange
Deep brown eyes piercing through.

Shuddering, I wake up
Sweat dripping from every vein
A nightmare plaguing me always
Never different, ever the same.

Rummaging through doors closed and shut
Digging the junkyard of the past
Deep down the back of my head
Phantasmagoric visions play along.

Joys of pink, tears of grey
Rainbow memories playing hide and seek
Pictures crumpled with shades of yellow
The wounds still fresh and bleak.

Forgotten promises and murdered feelings
Spring up like a weed
Mollifying my imbecile heart with a rebuke and a smile
I gather the courage to do the deed.

Letting go of the volcano in my chest
Trembling with pain, I bury it all forever
Having burnt every souvenir of cursed love
And taking the oath of not looking back, ever.

A numbness runs through my spine
My unburdened soul finally feels free
I go back to get some blissful sleep
Knowing now there will never be another haunting dream.

Who Are You Supporting?

The stadium is set.
The bets have been placed.
The players are ready.
The fans have made their choice.
It's the 5th of may. In the world around, it might be just another day, but in the world of IPL 2012, it's more like the judgement day. Yes, it's Pune Warriors(PW) vs Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR).

Everywhere, the IPL fever is at it's peak, with fans flocking to the stadium to cheer their favourite teams, and cricket maniacs being glued to the television with jittery nerves. Having completed a month, it's almost clear which of the teams will be making it to the playoffs. But there are two teams in particular who've been under the spotlight since the very beginning of this IPL season: PW and KKR. The reason, like EVERYBODY knows, is cause Kolkata's heart and spirit i.e SOURAV GANGULY aka Dada being in PW and not KKR.
Ever since Dada has been placed in PW, it has given birth to a dilemma among the people of Kolkata: whether to support their city or their forever favourite Dada, and since then, Kolkata has been divided. Debates, discussions and arguments have accompanied every gathering and adda, regarding this topic.
Pune Warriors started the season exceptionally well, thanks to Dada's brilliant captaincy and good team effort, but their performance dwindled in the past few matches. On the other hand, KKR's graph has been pretty impressive, and they stand quite a good chance of making it to the playoffs.
While the devotees of Dada have religiously been supporting PW, (for example, My Dad. He's the CRAZIEST Cricket fan you'll ever come across, and his devotion, love and respect for Dada knows no bounds.) there are yet others (like me, though I definitely have a predilection towards Dada. Duh!) whose love for their city is a tad more than their adoration for Dada. Not that they don't love him. That can NEVER be the case.

Though oodles of different interpretations can be made regarding this situation, I personally feel Cricket is a matter of choice and favourites. So, each individual is free to support his/her favourite team, irrespective of any factor.
Meanwhile, today's match is surely going to be THE match of this IPL season. I'm sure zillions of fans are counting each and every second, dying to watch the clash between Dada and SRK, or rather Kolkata and SRK (Not to forget the owner of PW is a Bengali; how ironic could it get!)

Let's hope this match is full of fun and exhilaration (which it will definitely be!). I hope it ends up in a tie, that
will be quite some fun! xD
So, enjoy tomorrow's match, you all. :)
