Valentine's Day passed away two days ago, but I guess the impact will take time to wear off. Everything around me seems so foggy, mushy and misty. It has been raining incessantly since last night, and rain has this unique ability of changing not just the ambience, but my mood as well. (It makes me lazier than usual.)
It's one of those days when you feel like sprawling on the sofa, reading novels, sipping warm tea or listening to soft music. As for me, I thought it's high time I put my 'create a blog' plan into action, and so I did.
I hope this gloomy, indolent weather gives way to a bright, sunny day tomorrow, or else I'll have to skip college again. (Reason #909 for skipping college.) Before leaving, I'd like to share a poem that I wrote last night under the effect of nostalgia that rain brings along.
Another rainy night, another memory ride
Smiling through her tears
Trying hard to force the thoughts out of her head
But it all comes alive like never before.
Still wondering what went wrong
The void puzzles her like always
Brooding over the distance she’s covered
Trying to retrace her steps.
The very picture makes her frantic
Her insides begin to churn
His name cuts her through
Like thunder piercing the sky.
Seconds of togetherness
Brought along a lifetime of sorrows
Minutes of the brighter world
Got lost in the tunnel of darkness.
Eyes that were once filled with dreams
Hopelessness now resides in them
The fake smile on her face
Gives no hint of the flame burning within.
Each raindrop is a memory
And memories aren’t like dirt in the rain
They might fade away a little
But the scars will forever remain.
Sunrise is not far away
She knows it’s time to put on the mask again
For life can get merciful
The nightmare might become a fairy tale again.
So, that's it for today. To all you people in Calcutta, wish you a happy rainy day. And to the rest, hope the day goes well.
Love,
Sayantani Sarkar.
